My friend Chris and I started Dopey almost 7 years ago. A lot has happened since then- most importantly and tragically Chris overdosed and died. After Chris died we started calling August 16 - Dopey Day aka ChrisMiss in August, it is the day that wouldβve been Chrisβs 38th birthday! It is the day that we put the Dopey logo over our eyes to stand in solidarity and to help end the stigma around drug addiction and recovery! Please put the Dopey logo over your eyes in solidarity! Do it for yourself! Do it to end the stigma! But most importantly do it for Chris!

Today is 7 years without a mind or mood altering chemical! I couldnβt have imagined such a life or thing was possible for me! 7 years ago today I was terrified, miserable and uncomfortable and now Iβm only kind of uncomfortable! Iβm kidding! Iβm kidding! Iβm beyond grateful and thrilled to have the life I have now! This week on Dopey weβre remembering Chris and commemorating 4 years since his tragic overdose and death. This picture was taken in my old apartment on Grand street on the day that Chris brought our first real mic to record Dopey with! I think it was like episode 50 or something and he was super excited about it. Ultimately the mic sucked but was an important development in the evolution of Dopey. There will never be another like Chris! Please be careful out there if youβre using and ask for help if you need it! Stay strong Everybody and fucking toodles!

Im devastated to report that yesterday morning Ryan Leone passed away. He was a new friend and a dopey legend. He was an unbelievably talented writer and a fantastic dreamer, which is what I will miss about him the most. He is survived by his parents, his fiancΓ©, and his two young sons. This loss is beyond tragic and he will be deeply missed. Please be careful if you are using! Rest In Peace Ryan, you were one in a billion for sure. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
